A few notes about choices we made along the way.
There is an option to put a retracting TV in the galley cabinet. We opted out as it takes about half of the cabinet space and drawer space on the port side of the galley.
There are two toilets in the starboard hull. I would have preferred one and a larger shower to use as a wet locker for foulies etc...
We added a dedicated BBQ station.
It's there on the stern.
We went with two convertible freezer/fridges for maximum flexibility and because one of the owners told us those are better units.
We put a "hidden" drawer under the salon bench with an RFID locking mechanism for stashing valuables, computers, etc. We removed the armrest above the drawer so that you can pivot directly to the hull entry steps.
We chose a satin walnut finish for the cabinets to decrease the appearance of fingerprints and smudges. Let's see how that goes.
We opted in for SeaDeck all over the decks (light grey) as our Tern 23 has it, and we love how it feels.
We went for the Beta diesel engines and detachable alternators for simplicity and global service options.
We added a large carbon platform above the Davits for additional solar. It also keeps the sun off your dinghy. We also upgraded the batteries to lithium and added capacity such that all-night AC and lighting is possible without running the generator.
We added LED lighting across the entire aft outdoor roof and all the way around the eyebrow/coachroof. It looks amazing.
There was some feedback that the standard rig could feel underpowered in light air. At the time, HH had an option called "turbo". It was initially additional $$$. Because of its popularity and the feedback, the turbo is now standard equipment.
We also added load cells on the shrouds that are visible in all of the ship's systems.
We upgraded the drive controls to fly by wire.
We upgraded the sails to North 3DI with the main and 3 forward sails on roller furling - and added a nylon downwind sail (asymmetrical spinnaker) to the package.
We went with B&G H5000 Hercules CPU and upgraded the displays to the 16-inch Zeus 3. There was one dedicated autopilot controller and we added another for complete autonomous redundancy (I sailed a Peterson 44 from the Marquesas to Hawaii with one other guy, and day two of a 25-day slog the autopilot went out. We steered the boat 24/7 on 6-hour watches).
